South Waikato 2016 Election special 15 Days to go till close of polls

Who weeks to go before elections end and the close of polls.

What will the head lines read in two weeks on the reason Candiates lost?

Alan Blair lost the mayoral race because voters voted Alan out of council three years ago along with Brenda Watkins and Wendy Cook to try something new in Thomas Lee and Jeff Gash and Marin Glucina. These names are all competing for the same votes. Why not get a past president of the Tokoroa club in Bill Machen? So Alan in the past three years of having three years training before that on council only put up an annual submission request of $20,000 of planting for the island in Lake Moananui. Remember Alan culling the swans at the lake. I have not seen a swan in the past three years and like the swans Alan too is looking to the island for a safe haven.

Jarad Gallagher lost the Mayoral election because a new face ran last election against the incumbent and people are siding with the person who entered early and well. So next term people will look again to see if Jarad stands and to compare Jarrad to the three year term of the new Mayor. But for now it is a two horse race between the two female candidates if looked at a District wide level. At a ward level Tirau and Putararu will pass on Jarrad and leave it up to Tokoroa.

Jenny Shatock lost the Mayoral race because Tirau ward was not happy over the Community Board representation review handling. Putaruru Ward have had a mayor and now see it going to either Tokoroa Ward or Tirau Ward. Putaruru does not have a community board and have seen the information centre srink in size and so all the hand clapping for its money from Pride In Putaruru will not tell the emporor it has no cloths. Only the voters of the Putaruru ward will say they prefer siding with Tirau ward in this election and a local candidate and let Tokoroa Ward vote split four ways and removing any Tokoroa Ward advantage. Tirau Ward will decide the election wirh Putaruru and spay paining anti dog walking signs on the foot path lost Jenny Shattock the election.

Tracey Deane lost the Mayoral race because the ten big signs put up by another candidate lulled new voters and old voters to vote to act as the sign says. If voters are paint thickness deep then the election was lost on the count of ten signs. The letter box drop of an endorsement by the incumbent Mayor may show that the Mayor and past councils have things to hide and bury and at all cost will try to hood wink the voter. What is not said is millions was spent by council and borrowed by council in the 9 years that amount to $50 million dollars completely outside normal operating of a council on items like a playground for leith place. ($26 million of electric shared moved to $20 million drive fund and off councils asset books and $6 million spent on a list the Mayor put out as to why to vote the deputy. Another $13 million was borrowed and the council is $20 million in debt). The sheer enormity of the spend up and inter generational debt created over the past nine years purchased the election with lists of spending items and debt funding to get elected.

So with al these above news outcomes in two weeks which will be the reason.

And who will be the deputy mayor that goes down with each Candiates.

Vote and find out.

Put those voting papers in a safe place.

Let's leave the last word to the twentieth Candiate for the Tokoroa Ward.

This election asks if 20 Candiates for 6 places will split the Tokoroa Vote. And if it does will it also split the mayoral vote too.

South Waikato 2016 Election special 16 Days to go till close of polls

Here are the four Mayoral Candiates speaking at the Tokoroa Sports and Events Centre.

And the next night I found one of the Candiates read the same notes out again.

I prefer when a Candiate is able to read the room and speak to it.

So the next big talk will be Thursday

Voting papers are out on votes have been taken already.

So for some voters the race is over.

And the papers in the house need to be kept aside otherwise they quickly mix with junk mail and get recycled.

The voting list has many for the health board STV style. Only one I know and was seen in the Tirau Hall. Others I know from when they were sitting on Hamilton city council back in 2004 the year of my first submission under the LGA 2002.

When you see this number at a community meeting we than realise how powerful is a sign on a fence.

South Waikato 2016 Election special 17 Days to go till close of polls

The twentieth (20) Tokoroa Ward Candidate bielections.

Below is the twentieth Candiates for the Tokoroa ward 150 words of wisdom.
And bielection because the intention was to stand. And here is the platform on which to vote.
Bielections because to stand and win and then stand down sets off a bielection in the first two years.

With these words would you vote the vision into a seat around the table?

As an elected Councilor if you got this letter in the mail to you as a representative would you be able to champion this dream on the dream wall?

You have three years. What item of the above pull you focus on?

Remember that at any time a bielections can be called. The district is full of positive people. A vision like this can step in and take the place of any sitting around the table.

Thanks Bern for Sharing this with us.

Any mail today in your box?

Yes this... A question at the Tirau Hall was asked of the person who was the subject of this endorsement about Tirau ward and Putaruru ward dumping Pokie Machines onto Tokoroa Ward.
The question was not answered. Here are the facts https://youtu.be/IMgUFZ6a0XU video facts.

The question was ask as to who paid for it?

This flier came the same day as the voting papers.

And after reading it it refered to Hillary?

Was the person paying to promote

As it mentioned the USA president Candiates by Name. (No mention of Donald)

Or was it supporting our first female Mayor in South Waikato (two contenders)
No mention of Alan or Jarad either.

A long list however that omitted

-Declined a Community Board for Tokoroa
-Declined a Community Board for Putaruru
-Declined a Community Board for Arapuni
And when the Local Government Commission was called in...
-Declined a Community Board for Tokoroa again
-Declined a Community Board for Putaruru again
-Declined a Community Board for Arapuni again

The South Waikato has to wait now six years (not five Alan as said in Tirau Hall) for the imposed representation review to come around in 2012.

But in 2013 the council declined again when 750 people signed to force council to have a representation review. Council told the Local Government Commission that the 5% of the community wanting a representation review was not valid. But 4 months earlier Council refused to hold a proper consultation with the community and then laughed at the community when it was a few short of 5% demanding council hold a representation review.

You decide as councillors and community how you would have voted. Or will vote to the following information?

This same council who told the Local government commission the following about our community.

Go in 21.00 minutes and see the Mayor and Deputy mayor and CEO and staff present this to the Newly Appointed Local Givernment Commission https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByH8M07uCuiHMk9TaGhVcU05Rkk (part two of two)

What standing does this endorsement have if this is the premise that the endorser stands upon?

With six new candidates. (Not specified) and hoping for 10 new from the other two wards compliment.

So matters of election are as a coin toss.

Paranui road way has a country sign and this was seen Jenny photo has stopped a car passing or a walker and whoever has had a blue pen...

Tracey Deane has three photos from Tirau Hall debate

And a third person overseas said Tracey Deane was the only one who made sense from the Tirau Hall Footage.

Alan observes in chambers. Two shots and one of council chambers. Alan sits in observing, as we can all do on our business at council, from the public Gallary. Does he have a drink?

Alan Blair sitting in the public Gallary at the Council Meeting in Tokoroa Chambers upstairs Torphin Crescent is a fight we all must exercise with audio visual footage to our smart phones.

The next big day to meet the Candiates is GreyPower at elim Chrurch on 22 September 1.30pm but check this totally independently as to time, date and venue. This is only a heads up.

Good bye Mr Mayor. Your last meeting as Mayor as full council chair is 29 September 2016.
So the public and Candiates are most welcome to come and look at the new rooms you may be elected to. Minutes and agenda are on the council website three days before the meeting onwards. 26th.

So 9am or 9.30am or 10.am the council meeting start. So do come for the last meeting.

South Waikato 2016 Election special 19 Days to go till close of polls

Below is an ordering of Mayoral and Deputy Mayoral candidates in no particular order. (Non STV and teamed up on conveinors integration with the Candiates to date.)

The idea of the second and third debate is the Mayoral candidates STV a deputy mayoral team and the ward Candiates STV the mayoral team.

These STV numbers and names then get processed so the community can see the thought processes of the Mayoral and ward Candiates.

New system from central gotv. so new ways of looking at presenting vision for the South Waikato community.

In its wisdom central government changes the rules on appointing deputies to achieve a goal.

Let's play ball. If it's not broken don't fix it. Not working then "rejuvenate it". "Experience" or synergy. "Community consultation" or dog signs painted on your footpaths then water blasted off with overhead signs replacing them to be removed from Tirau and put in Tokoroa without consultation also. "Clean up toxic dumps" or blindly let water flow into rivers?

Here are the four teams of eight people. One Mayoral and at least one candidate from each ward per team covering the whole South Waikato District.

A0.Tracey Deane;B0.Jarad Gallagher;C0.Alan Blair;D0.Jenny Shattock
A1.Marin Glucina;B1.Anne Groos;C1.Vivian Rikona;D1.David WAINE
A2.Arama Ngapo-Lipscombe;B2.Brian Smout;C2;Murry Robson;D2.Lea Cowley

A6.Amy Uluave;B6.Rachel O'Connor;C6.Brenda Watkins;D6.Bill Machen
A7.Joshua Smith-Holley;B7.Francie Theunissen;C7.Hans Nelis;D7.Peter Schulte

No particular order. No special treatment. Gradients influence by responses to emails.

A0 first to accept. C0 rudely declined (have you seen the video) http://youtu.be/sXdsY29HOm8

A1 Well Trained Mind, Mature Experience, Unquestionaed Loyalty, Selfless Devotion, Recognised Ability. D7. All of the above qualities in combination but will hold the Mayoral candidate's feet to the fire as a Deputy Mayor in that team. Let the vision development begin.

So the Mayoral Candiates have been to the Hall for another event.
That was then. Only Kim Egerton attended from outside the Tirau Ward. (Second from the right below)
Photo taken the night before in Tokoroa Ward where 19 candidates are standing for 6 places.

However all the Tirau Ward Candidates (3) attended Tokoroa meeting to get a glimpse of the Mayoral candidates and to see who the other nine councillors may be. Same distance to travel.

As an aside, three years ago at the first council meeting of the year I attended in the public Gallary and observed.

Background: Tirau attracts a travel allowance for a Councilor to drive to the Tokoroa based meetings under Local Governement Rules (Putaruru Ward candidates were too close to qualify under the rules)
On the very first council meeting of the three years term three ago Deputy Mayor Jenny Shattock and mayor Neil Sinclair as Mayor and Deputy Mayor removed that right from the Tirau ward member, Terry McGill, and  instead of being compensated, as was central government intention, the first act of the Deputy Mayor was to force a two hour round trip drive time of approximately 75 km trip to not be compensated and this eroded attendance at the meeting by Tirau Ward new member to the table.

Not having voted before the council said nothing when the vote was taken and it passed leaving Terry McGill feeling horribly isolated on the first day and no support registering opposition. The votes continued like that for the next four months as an agenda unknown to the new councillors was pushed aggressively. And it still continues. Ask any Councilor if they agree that the A frame and East Bowling club building should have council pay to demolish the buildings when two organisations have money to take them off site. Will the new council apologies to these new groups and compensate them $10,000 each for the time and money wasted getting the paperwork ready to move them. What happened on the first day of council continued for three years.

Not showing a grudge the Wirau Ward gave Deputy Mayor a cup of tea when she visited the Hall. Terry McGill was not there to meet her however. Lest we forget.

Rules of the game.

Mayoral candidates can order the team into any speaking order on the night.

Each mayoral candidate will speak seven times and each candidate will speak once.

Each team will have 14 speaking occasions

Over four teams that will be 56 statements of vision and how to achieve it for the district.

At one minute (including standing and sitting down time as well as walking to lecture and suffering notes - over speaking by ward candidates will take off time from Mayoral candidates

56 minutes of speaking times to present a vision and how to deliver it.

Audience will have written out questions during the night and each team will get all questions to answer. The mayoral candidate will answer 1/2 minute and call a Councilor candidate to follow up 1/2 minute. Next mayoral candidate will answer the same questions and so on.

Who would be on the A Team. Will they please stand up.

Some required ready as we look to better shape our District Plan.
This video takes us on a tour of the strengths and weaknesses of what lays ahead for us.
One Candiate that did not stand was Bern HOBBS who has submitted to council on improving the look of the buildings in Tomoroa and South Waikato as a child walking to school past a derelict building gets that vision imprinted on its mind for a life time. So a $20,000 legal fund was created. Bern HOBBS  has a vision of a hub of higher education in Tokoroa with nurse training and metallurgy training as a corner stone. Bern Hobbs can speak articulately of the history of the Greeks and the Roman. The video above is another person but sets the stage if council is to look at a rates review mentioned by Alan Blair in Tirau Hall refering to another Mayoral Candiates speech the night before in Tokoroa Sports and Event Centre.

Kitchen and reception area.

Food and drink ready for after the meeting meeting the candidates

Every chair in the place ended up being used.

Two of the candidates try out the seats (Derek Keesing and Peter Schulte)

Derek Keesing (left) is standing for both community board and council for Tirau Ward and was a star performer on the night speaking without notes and always had the audience spell bound. If their was a deputy mayor from the Tirau Ward it would be Derek Keesing. It was an honour to be in his presence.

Could this be the new power broking team for three years. Would Jarad Gallagher (right) select Peter Schulte (centre) as Deputy Mayor to work with CEO Craig Hobbs (left)

Of the 26 ward candidates the only out for ward candidates to sit in on the meeting was
Kim Nigel Egerton. However all three Tirau Ward Candiates came to Tokoroa the night Before.
So Kim shows himself to be a contender for Deputy Mayor. Representing the whole District.
