South Waikato 2016 Election special 45 Days to go till close of polls

Fourth five days to go till polls close in the South Waikato District of 24,000 people in New Zealand Southern Hemisphere.

This blog was written as the New Zealand Reo Olympic team landed in Auckland with a record sweep of medals.

First bit of video footage on Emails of all things and a mayoral candidate.

What has happened in the last 7 days. Nominations closed last Friday at noon. One person forgot his wallet and by the time he returned the 12 noon cut off had passed.

Another Mayoral candidate from last year could not get the $200 in time and did not file. Another candidate had promised the money and when it came time to collect it the answer was no. Banks would not over draft and friends would not give. So if you are going to run in 3 years time 365 days adds up to over 1000 days. So $200/1,000 is ten cents per day. Start saving $0.10 per day.

We have 28 candidates for 10 wards (Looking to elect 6 in Tokoroa Ward, 3 in Putaruru Ward, and 1 in Tirau Ward)

We have three (3) candidates for Tirau Ward standing, Peter, Derek, and Hans.

We have six (6) candidates for Putaruru Ward standing, Gray, Andrea, Herman, Anrienne, Rachel, and Keith.

We have nineteen (29) candidates for Tokoroa Ward standing, Arama, Bill, Brenda, Brian, David, Sharon, Thomas, Vivian, Wendy, Kim, Lea, Marin, Murry, Joshua, Rita, Amy, Anne, Francie, Jeff.

And we have four (4) candidates for Mayor at large standing, Alan, Jarrad, Jenny, and Tracey.

The Tirau community board has five candidates standing, Joke, Derek, Sharon, Cassandra, Clive.

We will check in on the election and keep you updated.

The south waikato district council website has a page on information of dates. We are into the campaign process. Voting papers will be posted out in September in a few weeks time.
