Herboviors prefer a progressive taxation where the new born are succeed from the mammary gland and increase in duties till the alpha bull protects the herd from the carnoviours. Manufacturing and jobs are the plants that feed herboviors.
Carnoviours prefer low flat taxes and the young inherit the wealth of the parents to capture and devour the herboviors.
The other feeders are at the bottom of the sea and love and live on the volcanic sea vents.
No new taxes are a government that have become hungry after eating away at the tax base and not growning jobs, not education, not growing the pie, not adding carriages behind the locomotion on the train tracks. In fact they have lost the coal cart, they have dropped the pie upside down on a dirty floor, they have let all into university and charged student loans (not funded the brightest and the beat but let own mediocre children in when normally would not qualify and thus dullard down the government institutions they appoint friends and family to), manufacturing rides off on raw material exports and the tax base crumples hence the need for new taxes.
Those are the symptoms.
The change happen when independent minded people put names in the hat for elections.
