This blog today has two parts. Above is video 8 of 21 of Full Council Meeting 8 September 2016.
It is the start of the Audit and Risk section of Council. Before this was full council and after this was the last committee meeting for this term of council.

The second part is the attendance at the International Cook Island festival to judge 21 dances broken into juniors, intermediate and seniors. None of the 26 ward candidates were present. Tracey Deane gave her apologies.

The one candidate for Mayor who attended handed over a Junior prize, stayed to the intermediate prize given and did not return after the second break to watch the seniors. Guess who it was of the three. Here is a photo.
The left bottom of the white stage can you make out the head from behind. The Candidate was not invited to speak. But was referred to as the Mayor.

I looked in the car park for a mayoral looking Candiates car but could not see it parked.

The Cook Island Community makes up 5,000 people in the Tokoroa town of 12,000 people.

A dance would take place and four judges would mark and then those marks would be tallied by two people pictured.

When asked about if something is not broken do not change it the grant money for cultural festivals was appreciated from council. When mentioned the past 9 years $100,000,000 is lost in the pokie machines the community has a potential difference of $200,000,000 because that original money is not able to be spent in the community I could see change was needed. When asked what deputy many each mayoral candidate was going to choose and how that would influence the vote the whole matter was very much open in the election.

So who are the Mayoral Candiates going to choose. The idea of having a Cook Island Deputy Mayor debate of the Mayoral Candiates would go a long way in asking the Cook Island Community was is wanted and required in the next 25 years.

Do you know if any of the Ward Candiates Attended.

The prizes above. And what if voter turn out is less this year because the community does not engage with the Candiates?

The drummers area above is where all the heavy lifting happens in supporting the dances. In council it is important to look at the social wellbeing of the community. What are the issues the Candiates have identified?

Tokoroa is known as the 16 island of the 15 islands of the Cooks Group.

Senior team show off the lovely costumes

In the breaks we have a number of foot items to select for $5

This was in the set up times are the stalls got ready

This area at the Tokoroa High School was full of people at the break times

The whole family participated including this little one.

And this organisation feed the near 400 people who attended.

This was the stage that performers used to gain elevation in the dance.

When John Kiria was asked about his running for Manukau ward he was up against 7 people for one seat. He asked the Tokoroa for their vote. And when I asked him if he entourages the 60% who don't vote to vote he said "Vote". And when asked to say Tracey Deane who was a mayoral candidate John Kiria said "Tracey Deane"

The winners of the seniors.
